Web Site Content - What Do I Put On My Site?
I've made my decision - I want you to design my web site. Now what do I do?

1. How long does it normally take to build and host a website?

It normally takes less than 10 days to build a website. Hosting and domain name can be setup within a half hour. You can choose for us to host the site or keep your existing host. Depending on the complexity of the site it may take up to 6 weeks to be completed.

2. If I already have a site can you help me improve it?

Yes. We can redesign or add content to an existing site, and costs less money than building one from scratch. We just take the information you want to keep and transfer it to a new website layout. You will be involved in the building and designing process as if we were starting from scratch.

3. Can you use my company's existing logo, brochure design, and other materials for my website?

Yes. It is preferred to use the same materials so that your company can build name and logo recognition. Any information you can give us only improves your website's final outcome.

4. Does my business need to have a computer etc. to host or maintain a web site? What about for email?

You don't have to have a computer for the hosting or maintenance unless you are going to maintain the site yourself. The hosting is done through a company that keeps all of that information on their server. It is preferable for you to have a computer so that you can keep in touch with your customers through email. It is a necessity when you have a website, that you can provide good customer service through email.

5. What are the things that you expect from my company to complete the web site design?

Brochures, logos, photographs, product descriptions, business cards etc. are all recommended resources to use. For new businesses we will help you get started from scratch. A dedicated project manager will work one on one with you during the design process to answer any questions and collect all the information necessary.

6. Is there any maintenance required after designing and hosting a web site?

Depending on the type of site, some amount of maintenance is usually necessary. You don't want to have outdated information on your site. As your business evolves, it may require some things to be added, deleted, or modified. We offer monthly and hourly maintenance plans.

7. How much does a web site cost?

There are quite a few factors that are going to affect the ultimate cost of your web site. These factors include how many pages you are going to have, if you will sell products on your website, the graphic work involved, and how interactive your future web site will be. 8. Do I need to hire a "local" web site designer?

CS Designs creates web sites for local clients as out of state clients. By using the Internet, email, fax and the telephone, it is possible to communicate effectively with clients in any location.

9. What is a URL?

A URL is a "universal resource locator". This is the address you type in when you want to view your web page on the Internet. For example, http://www.mycsdesigns.com is our URL.

10. What is a domain name?

A domain name is a specific web site address that you choose and register with Blue Host (or your current registrar). Our domain name is "mycsdesigns.com".

11. I am currently hosted with another company and would like to switch over to Blue Host. How do I do this?

Just fill out an inquiry form and we will contact your for all the details. Once we have all of the information we will take care of everything. We will transfer your domain name along with all of your existing web sites content.

12. Can I choose you to design my site and use my own web hosting?

Yes, you can use any web host you like. Once your website has been completed you will have to provide us with your web hosting ftp login username as password so that we can upload your website for you.

13. What is web hosting?

Web hosting is a monthly fee that you pay to have your site accessible on the Internet. We can provide web hosting for our clients through Blue Host.

14. What is site maintenance?

Site maintenance is a fee paid monthly or hourly to keep your site updated with new content that you provide. Most good web sites have new content updated regularly. Fresh content is what will keep your visitors coming back. This is an optional service that we provide for our customers. If you want to maintain your website yourself you can do so.

15. Do you offer any type of discounts?

16. Why can't I find my web site in the search engines?

Once your site has been submitted to the top Search Engines they may require several weeks, or even months to actually spider and list your web site in their directory. How fast your site is listed depends on each individual Search Engines database update schedule. Watch your server traffic logs for visiting spiders. We submit your website for you once the site is completed. If you sign up for a maintenance or SEO (search engine optimization) plan, then we will continue to make sure your site is submitted regularly.

17. Web Site Content - What Do I Put On My Site?

That would depend on the goals of your web site. If you run a business website you would include as much information about your products or services that your customers would need to purchase from you. If it is a family website, you will want to include information about all of your family members. You will want to have fresh, up to date information on your site to draw in your visitors/customers and make them want to keep coming back.
